Why I Dunk
My name is Michael Bruzdzinski. I am a 25 year Deep Creek Dunker. I know you and I have talked many times over the past 25 years. I started participating in the SOMD Winter Water Events with my first Chesapeake Bay Plunge when I was working with the Maryland State Police. One of my co-workers. Mike Janis, had a son, Greg, born with Downs Syndrome. I wanted to be sure Greg would have a chance to participate in the Special Olympics so I decided to do my part. Later on when I went to work for the Social Security Administration I had other co-workers who were in similar situations. I was also able to convince others to join me, most notably Gary Eisenberg and Mitch Hooper (Team CRUUDE). Since that day, I have made every Chesapeake Bay Plunge, Deep Creek Dunk, Sr. Mary's Splash, and Shiver In the River in order to raise money for Special Olympics of Maryland.. Over the past 25 years I have been a Triple and Double event participant. I still have many of sweatshirts and the 10th Year Deep Creek Plaque (see attached photo).
I am looking forward to making my quarter of century Dunk this year.
